Main Duties

JOB PURPOSE

Job Scope

• Ensure execution of planned productions orders on day to day,Risk assesment,Meeting the KPI,Providing the skill training to the sub ordinates,work to achieve mill capacity/day production,maintain the record of schedules of mill maintanance,maintain the mill roll records,must prepare department performance for every month.

Operational Responsibility

• To supervise shop floor staff
• Ensure smooth fnctioning of the prodction department
• Inventory control to follow good operational practices and have close monitor on the spares procurement
• Minimize and control delay and to be within the budgetary norms
• Ensure proper implementation of the rolling programs
• Implementing the management business strategies and have good peers of other disciplines
• Implementation of QMS
• To supervise whether all the the operations arecarried out following SOP
• Multi-sills development among the team
• Implementation of delay analysis recommendation to avoid repeated problems occured in the mill
• Must follow and maintain all the KPI of departmental and organisational within the budgeted norms
• Supervision exercised of shift production engineer,operators,shop floor staff.

Ensure production targets are met

• To document and monitor preventive maintanance
• To optimize machine utilization
• To keep inventory of all tools and equipment
• To check equipment,make reports and take corrective action
• Enters operations data into the logbook
• Coordinate with the maintanance department during shutdowns for effective completion of all jobs within the time specification
• Coordinate execution of planned jobs
• Ensure 5k compliance in zonesof supervision
• Report all accidents and near misses
• Any other responsibility assigned by the superior in production matters
• To maintain the variable cost within the budget
• Must achieve the mill capacity targeted plan
• Must able to plan the mill capacity utilization,process planning
• Must meet the KPI within the budget

Responsibility for Internal

Internal

• Deals sometimes with Forklift drivers and stores

Managerial/Supervisory responsibility

• Shift production Engineer,Shop floor staff

Responsibility for Physical assets

• Making sure that company office assets and machines in MFG are optimally used

Decision Making/Job influence

• Participates in the Appraisal of the machine operators,crane operators

Working conditions

• Working conditions requires that the supervisor and all his/her team wear PPEs all the time for safety reasons

Other Requirements

Qualifications and Competencies

• Bachelors in Mechanical/Productions Engineering is a must
• General work experience years 8 in Steel manufacturing industry
• Excellent problems solving skills,analytical skills and planning skills
• Achievements and focused oriented
• Have a positive outlook with euthusiasm and good energy
• Ability to be fast paced,self motivated and prompt
• Capability to work under pressure and be willing to put in extra hours of work when needed 
• Good communication and interpersonal relationship abilities
• Good command of English and Kiswahili languages
• Excellent reporting writing skills
• IT literate with experience of using microsoft office(word,outlook.excel) and other computerized systems such as SAP system
• Effective team player
• Strong ethics and high level of personal and professional integrity
• Well organized with an understanding of prioties and changing demands
• Excellent personal organizational skills
