Main Duties

• we are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our team in Mbeya, Tanzania. This position reports functionally to the Chief Accountant and administratively to the General Manager.
• The primary purpose of this role is to support the day-to-day operations of the Finance Department and to support the wider Finance team in executing and strengthening the company’s financial management functions. The key responsibilities include:

Your Responsibilities Budgeting & Financial Planning

• Assist in developing and managing the company’s annual budget process.
• Monitor budget performance and provide monthly variance analysis with recommendations.
• Support the preparation of financial forecasts and long-term financial plans.

Financial Accounting & Reporting

• Ensure accurate postings in the SUN System, reflecting true and fair transactions.
• Assist in the preparation of management accounts.
• Assist in the preparation of annual financial statements in compliance with statutory and group reporting timelines.
• Optimize the company’s Expected Credit Loss (ECL) model by monitoring debtors’ aging and following up on outstanding debts.
• Ensure proper reporting of intercompany pre-financing arrangements and other IC parameters in line with transfer pricing requirements.
• Managing the fixed asset register, depreciation schedules, and asset verification exercises.

Taxation & Compliance

• Ensure quarterly upload of data into the Group’s tax tool (GTC) to align local tax reporting with group requirements.
• Ensure compliance with tax and regulatory matters, including VAT, PAYE, WHT, SDL, NSSF, and corporate tax.
• Overseeing the preparation and submission of VAT filing schedules and reconciliation.
• Ensuring timely filing of statutory obligations (VAT, WHT, PAYE, SDL, NSSF, Corporate Tax, etc.).
• Managing compliance with IFRS/IAS and liaising with tax authorities during reviews, audits, or assessments

Cash & Treasury Management

• Reviewing vendor payment processes and ensuring effective cash flow management. Monitoring daily cash flow and preparing short-term and long-term cash forecasts.
• Coordinating with banks and financial institutions on treasury-related matters.

Audit & Internal Controls

• Actively participate in the annual audit process and support other finance-related audits.
• Participate in month-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate internal and group reporting.
• Ensure adherence to internal controls and compliance with company policies.

Team Support & Knowledge Sharing

• Acquire and maintain replicable knowledge of tasks performed by other team members to ensure business continuity.
• Collaborate with colleagues and support cross-functional projects within the finance team.
• Perform any other tasks assigned by the Finance Manager or senior leadership.

Other Requirements

Your profile Professional expertise

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting & finance, Economics or any business-related degree.
• CPA /ACCA/CFA/CA Qualification and membership to a Professional Board.
• Proven experience (5+ years) in a similar role, preferably in the agribusiness or coffee industry or in a consulting firm.
• In-depth knowledge of financial principles, accounting standards, and tax regulations.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook), experience with SUN system is a plus.
• Knowledge of ERP systems and financial management software.
