Main Duties
Description
- This position involves overseeing the hotel’s financial activities, from managing daily income and expenditures to preparing monthly financial statements. By closely monitoring budgets and financial plans, the Hotel Accountant assists in guiding the hotel’s financial decisions, ensuring compliance with accounting laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Preparing the payroll for approval by Senior Management
- Preparing accurate month-end accounts with comparison to forecast and this includes preparing profit and loss account and the balance sheet details for external accountants to prepare such statement for senior management
- Assist in preparing budgets and business planning and forecasts
- Assist in tracking key KPIs and report same with Monthly Accounts. These include Room Occupancy Rate etc.
- Ensuring legislation is followed regarding VAT and other taxes
- Chasing late payment, reporting bad debts and keeping an eye on the cash flow
- Maintain accurate and current Accounts Payables and Account Receivable records
- Process cash disbursement and cash receipts
- Review daily cash balance and maintain cash flow projections
- Prepare a monthly bank reconciliation for all company account
- Review vendor invoice and monthly statement to ensure all expenses are processed in the Accounting System
- Work with vendors promptly to ensure hotel suppliers are available and maintenance work required on hotel premises is done promptly
Other Requirements
Skills and Qualification:
- Bachelor degree or Diploma in accounting with experience as full-time bookkeeper preferably in a hotel environment.
- Must possess a minimum of 2 years of experience
- Extensive knowledge about the spreadsheets and Quick Books
- Punctual, reliable and must have strong communication skills
- Knowledge about MS office, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Able to work in a team and produce quality output under tight deadlines
- Strong verbal and oral communication skills
- Self-motivated and strong analytical skills
- Attention to detail, prioritization skill and time management
- Quick learner with a positive attitude
- Able to interact effectively with all level of management and vendors
