Main Duties

JOB SUMMARY

• The Hotel General Manager is responsible for the overall management and operation of the hotel, ensuring exceptional guest experiences while maximizing profitability. This role requires strong financial acumen, leadership skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of service.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational Management

• Oversee daily hotel operations, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
• Maintain high standards of service and guest satisfaction.
• Coordinate with department heads to ensure smooth operations across all areas.

Financial Management

• Develop and manage the annual budget, ensuring financial targets are met.
• Analyze financial reports, including profit and loss statements, to identify trends and areas for improvement.
• Implement cost-control measures to optimize profitability.

Staff Management

• Recruit, train, and develop hotel staff, fostering a positive work environment.
• Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members.
• Ensure staff adherence to hotel policies and procedures.

Guest Relations:

• Address guest complaints and feedback promptly and professionally.
• Develop and implement strategies to enhance guest satisfaction and loyalty.
• Promote a culture of hospitality and service excellence among staff.

Marketing and Sales

• Collaborate with the marketing team to develop promotional strategies and packages.
• Analyze market trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities for growth.
• Build and maintain relationships with key clients and stakeholders.

Compliance and Safety:

• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and regulatory requirements.
• Implement and monitor safety protocols to ensure a safe environment for guests and staff.
• Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests, such as power outages, water leaks, or equipment failures.
• Develop and implement emergency maintenance procedures to ensure guest safety and comfort.
• Conduct safety inspections and maintain records of compliance with health and safety standards.

Hotel Maintenance

• Conduct regular inspections of hotel facilities, including guest rooms, common areas, and equipment.
• Schedule and perform routine maintenance tasks to prevent equipment failures and prolong the lifespan of assets.
• Address and resolve maintenance issues reported by guests or staff, such as plumbing leaks, electrical problems, and HVAC malfunctions.
• Ensure that all maintenance work complies with local safety regulations and hotel policies.
• Oversee the cleanliness and maintenance of outdoor areas, including landscaping, parking lots, and swimming pools.
• Ensure that all areas of the hotel are well-maintained and presentable to guests.
• Maintain an inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment, ordering new materials as needed.
• Track and manage maintenance budgets to ensure cost-effective operations.

Other Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree or Higher Diploma in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a General Manager or in a similar role within the hospitality industry.
• Good understanding of hotel financial management including stock taking and managing petty cash.
• Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
• Proficient in hotel management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
