Main Duties
- The HSE Officer is responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy working environment within the transportation industry. The role involves implementing HSE policies, conducting inspections, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a culture of safety among employees.
Key Responsibilities:
- HSE Planning & Implementation
- Develop, implement, and monitor company-wide HSE plans and procedures.
- Conduct risk assessments and propose preventive measures.
- Inspections & Audits
- Carry out regular workplace inspections in transport operations, warehouses, and offices.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and legal requirements.
- Training & Awareness
- Provide safety training and toolbox talks for staff.
- Promote safety culture through awareness campaigns.
- Compliance & Reporting
- Maintain compliance with national and international HSE regulations.
- Prepare incident reports, safety audits, and monthly HSE performance reports.
- Investigate accidents/incidents and recommend corrective actions.
- Emergency Preparedness
- Ensure emergency response plans are in place and tested.
- Conduct fire drills and first aid preparedness programs.
Other Requirements
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or related field.
- NOSHC Certification (added advantage).
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in HSE roles within transportation/logistics industry.
- Strong knowledge of safety planning, inspections, and reporting.
