Main Duties

Position Description

• The Laboratory Supervisor will supervise the operations of the laboratory in service to meet the expectations and objectives of the business.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Apply and maintain all applicable food and feed safety standards and requirements.
• Comply with Quality, Health, Safety and Environment (“QHSE”) policies and rules to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.

KEY DUTIES:

• Regularly Inspect and test all incoming raw materials, work-in-progress, finished goods and inventory per established procedures
• On the basis of laboratory tests and inspections, recommend to the Mill Manager:
• acceptance or rejection of all in-coming raw materials.
• immediate stoppage of a manufacturing process out of control.
• dispatch or rejection of all out-going finished goods.
• Regularly audit storage conditions in the warehouses and production area to safe-guard product quality
• Maintain accurate and up to date records of raw materials, work-in-progress and finished goods.
• Prepare agreed regular reports
• Recommend to the Mill Manager repairs and maintenance of testing equipment to ensure functionality, accuracy and compliance
• Maintain a safe and hygienic laboratory environment and procedures.
• Supervise laboratory team, track KPIs and execute corrective actions when required
• Other duties as assigned by management

Other Requirements

RELEVANT SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:

• At least three (3) years working experience in a related industry.
• Professional qualification in Food Science, Laboratory Science or related;
• Competency in use of the Microsoft suite of programs (i.e., MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Good communication skills and ability to share information in an accessible manner the Company’s management
• Excellent knowledge of the feed-mill products
• Strong professional presentation – in appearance and demeanor

CRITICAL COMPETENCIES:

• Experience as laboratory supervisor. The ideal Laboratory Supervisor will have at least one
• (1) years of relevant experience at this level.
• A track record of operational excellence.
• Demonstrate the ability to do things first time right and accurately under tight timelines.
