Job Summary
- The Ophthalmologist will be responsible for diagnosing, treating, and managing eye diseases and disorders. The role involves performing eye examinations, prescribing corrective lenses, administering medical and surgical treatments, and advising patients on proper eye care.
- The specialist will work closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough eye examinations to assess vision and detect abnormalities.
- Diagnose and manage ocular diseases such as glaucoma, cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration.
- Prescribe corrective lenses, medications, or other non-surgical treatments.
- Perform eye surgeries, including cataract removal, laser surgery, and corrective procedures.
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative care to patients.
- Educate patients on eye health, preventive care, and proper use of corrective lenses.
- Collaborate with optometrists, nurses, and other specialists to provide holistic care.
- Maintain accurate medical records and adhere to ethical and legal medical practices.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in ophthalmology.
Other Requirements
Qualifications & Requirements
- Medical degree in Ophthalmology or equivalent.
- Valid medical license and registration with the relevant medical council.
- Proven clinical experience in ophthalmology, including surgery.
- Strong diagnostic, clinical, and surgical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
Preferred Skills
- Sub-specialty training (e.g., pediatric ophthalmology, cornea, retina, glaucoma) is an added advantage.
- Experience with modern ophthalmic equipment and laser technologies.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
