Main Duties

Job Purpose

• The Production Planner is responsible for developing and maintaining detailed production schedules that align with customer demand, available capacity, and inventory objectives. The role ensures efficient use of manufacturing resources while maintaining high standards of product availability and cost efficiency.
• The position coordinates between sales, procurement, production, and logistics teams to ensure timely and accurate production planning and execution. The Production Planner will also identify opportunities for continuous improvement in production planning processes, materials flow, and operational performance

Responsibilities

Production Planning

• Develop, maintain, and communicate the production plan to meet customer requirements and business objectives.
• Convert the agreed demand plan into an optimized production schedule that balances production capacity, lead times, and resource availability.
• Coordinate closely with procurement to ensure raw materials and components are available for scheduled production runs.
• Monitor adherence to the production plan and proactively address deviations, delays, or capacity issues.
• Analyze production constraints and propose corrective actions to improve efficiency and reduce downtime.
• Plan and manage minimum stock balances of finished goods and raw materials to avoid stock-outs or overproduction.
• Collaborate with the maintenance team to align preventive maintenance schedules with production plans.
• Support new product introductions and ensure smooth transition from pilot to regular production.
• Ensure master production data is accurate, updated, and aligned with ERP and MRP systems.

Coordination & Communication

• Serve as the key link between sales, production, supply chain, and logistics teams to ensure alignment of priorities.
• Communicate daily and weekly production schedules to relevant departments.
• Inform stakeholders of potential delays, resource shortages, or constraints that could impact delivery timelines.
• Support the Supply Chain Manager in Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) meetings to align production output with business plans.

Process Improvement

• Continuously review and optimize production scheduling processes to enhance efficiency and responsiveness.
• Identify and implement initiatives to reduce waste, increase equipment utilization, and improve throughput.
• Collaborate with group production planners and other Safal affiliates to share best practices and improve performance.

Compliance & Reporting

• Ensure adherence to company policies, quality standards, and safety regulations.
• Prepare regular reports on production performance, plan adherence, and capacity utilization.
• Contribute to periodic departmental planning and budgeting cycles, including the annual Business Plan

Process (BPP).

• Safeguard and ensure proper use of company assets and equipment
• Ensure the safeguarding and security of Company assets.

Job Dimensions:

Budgetary Responsibility:

• Ensure efficient use of production assets and materials to minimize waste and costs.

Decision Making / Job Influence:

• Participate in hiring processes for production planning or supply chain roles.
• Make operational decisions within approved production and inventory parameters.

Working Conditions:

• Office and shop floor–based role, requiring adherence to safety standards (use of PPE).
• May require extended hours to meet urgent production needs.
• Occasional travel to branches or supplier sites as required.

Other Requirements

Qualifications and Competencies

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, orrelated field.

Experience:

• Minimum 10 years of overall experience in Supply Chain/Manufacturing.
• At least 5 years in a production planning or scheduling role within manufacturing.

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (preferably SAP).
• Knowledge of production planning tools (e.g., SAP PP, O9, Kinaxis, or similar).
• Strong skills in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Competencies:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent coordination, communication, and time management.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver under pressure.
• Continuous improvement mindset and attention to detail.
