Main Duties

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Apply and maintain all applicable food and feed safety standards and requirements.
  • Comply with Quality, Health, Safety and Environment (“QHSE”) policies and rules to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.

KEY DUTIES:

  • Regularly Inspect and test all incoming raw materials, work-in-progress, finished goods and inventory per established guidelines and procedures
  • On the basis of laboratory tests and inspections; the Laboratory Technician Supervisor should be able to recommend to the Factory Manager on:
  • Acceptance or rejection of all in-coming raw materials.
  • Immediate stoppage of a manufacturing process out of control.
  • Dispatch or rejection of all out-going finished goods.
  • Regularly audit storage conditions in the warehouses and production area to safe-guard product quality
  • Maintain accurate and up to date records of raw materials, work-in-progress and finished goods.
  • Prepare agreed regular reports
  • Communicate promptly any issues to Production Supervisor and Factory Manager and assist in solving batch-specific problems.
  • Assist in complaint investigation and data gathering.
  • Perform daily calibration checks of lab equipment and conduct basic maintenance of the lab equipment
  • Recommend to the Factory Manager repairs and maintenance of testing equipment to ensure functionality, accuracy and compliance
  • Conduct shelf-life extension evaluations for finished products and raw material and conduct intermediate expiration evaluations.
  • Build continuous improvement by developing and implementing new procedures based on trends, new issues, and analyses.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in processes and make recommendations that contribute to the ongoing enhancement in process quality and control.
  • Achieve business objectives consistent with balancing the needs and expectations of three major
  • stakeholders (employees, customers, and shareholders).
  • Comply with laws, regulations, and food safety standards such as ISO, HACCP, etc., as required
  • Report monthly, on time, to the Factory Manager on performance and ongoing projects.
  • Immediately report potential or arising issues, problems, situations and provide proposals and solutions with a list of required resources (time, financial, human) to ameliorate or reduce the impact of such events.
  • Maintain a safe and hygienic laboratory environment and procedures.
  • Supervise laboratory team, track KPIs and execute corrective actions when required
  • Other duties as assigned by management


Other Requirements

RELEVANT SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 2-5-years’ experience required in Food/Feed manufacturing environment, preferred experienced with analysis of raw material, and finished products.
  • Professional qualification in Food Science, Laboratory Science or related
  • Extensive knowledge of analytical testing procedures of various types
  • Competency in use of the Microsoft suite of programs (i.e., MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Good communication skills and ability to share information in an accessible manner the Company’s management
  • Excellent knowledge of the feed-mill products
  • Strong professional presentation – in appearance and demeanor
  • Ability to work closely with the Purchasing Department in qualifying vendors
  • Creative thinker who will bring new ideas and approaches to solve problems and seize opportunities

CRITICAL COMPETENCIES:

  • Experience as laboratory supervisor. The ideal Laboratory Supervisor will have at least one
  • (1) years of relevant experience at this level.
  • A track record of operational excellence. The ideal laboratory technician for raw materials and finished products will be regularly engaged with local partners and clients, and must have the capacity to engage a diverse range of people, organizations, and challenges effectively, Demonstrate the ability to do things first time right and accurately under tight timelines.
  • An ability to communicate effectively. The candidate must be able to communicate orally and in writing clearly in English, including drafting laboratory reports and presenting them to the Factory Manager.
